This is a very large format work which consists of a coloured and highly decorated wrapper and just two printed page-openings. The first contains the stories of 'The Wasp and the Bee' and 'The Boy and the Dog', each just a paragraph long. The second page-opening has the slightly longer story of Harry Howe, the selfish boy. Each story is almost surrounded by elaborate and coloured, if rather crude, engravings.
The precise date of this work is difficult to pin down. An Archibald Park was operating at the address given in the advertisement on the outside back cover - 47 Leonard Street, Finsbury, London - from 1836-41, but the work might also have been published by Alexander Park (perhaps Archibald's son) who occupied the same premises from 1842-1863 (Brown 1982). The Hockliffe Collection contains other books published by A. Park, for example (0033).
